MCHENRY, Ill. -- A powerful and entertaining golf training aid, The Putting Game, is scheduled to debut nationally during the PGA Merchandise Show January 29-31 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

The Putting Game is different than other putting systems as there is no physical cup. Instead, the device's software creates a "virtual cup".

With no physical cup, there are no ramps to overcome or plastic edges that can divert a putt. The virtual cup also allows the golfer to set the distance to the cup to any distance desired.

Another benefit of this new training aid is it allows the golfer to set the stimp, or green speed. The system's default stimp is 10.0, however, users can set the range anywhere from 6.0 to 14.0

"Someone using The Putting Game can set the stimp to match their local golf course," said Fred Knecht, Director of Sales and Marketing. "This way, the golfer will be practicing to perform best where he plays."

The technology behind The Putting Game is unique. The system uses an optical triangulation-based method to determine the position of a ball, which is essentially a modern electronic eye. The two infrared sensors and a proprietary algorithm developed by NE1 Golf will determine whether a putt was made or missed.

The Putting Game , which is designed to be used indoors on a carpeted floor, also provides instant visual feedback on putting speed and putt direction.

"It's the instant visual feedback that makes it a great training-aid, while the games and the skill challenges make using the device productive and enjoyable," said Knecht.

The Putting Game also provides fun and excitement for the golfer, with numerous built in games and skill challenges. The most popular, Game "500", is an accuracy challenge where golfers must putt as close to the center target as possible. While scoring 500 is very difficult, it's not impossible. This game alone will keep a golfer coming back for more.

Other features of The Putting Game include horizontal LED display which indicates the direction of each putt; convenient foot switches for quick game selection & reset; a unique bounce-beam design which conveniently returns the ball to you; and battery operated (two "C" size batteries) or AC adapter.

For best success on short putts, keep the putter on line to the target. To check this, practice one-foot putts and you can literally have the putter go to the hole.
