Hawk's Landing Golf Club at the Orlando World Center Marriott, located at 8701 World Center Drive in Orlando, will participate in the third annual Patriot Golf Day, a joint initiative of The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association. Golfers across the country and at Hawk's Landing have the unique opportunity to donate $1 or more to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation (FoldsofHonor.org), which provides post-secondary educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty. Golf legend, Hal Sutton, announced that he is returning to competitive golf and is excited to play in his first full year on the Champions Tour. Hal will kick off the 2009 Champions Tour at the Allianz Championship in Boca Raton, Florida on February 13-15, 2009, the first of four tournaments he has already committed to play this year. Ultimately, Sutton has his sights on 15 to 20 events, at least, on the Champions Tour. "Might be more than that," Mr. Sutton said.

SST Pure will unveil its automated shaft alignment system at the Golfsmith Clubmakers Association annual conference in Austin, Texas, Strategic Shaft Technologies, LC. SST Pure's computerized shaft alignment technology is currently offered through a network of more than 50 licensees around the world. The current system relies on the user to follow a series of prompts from the computer and can take several minutes to PURE a single shaft, while the automated machine completes the PUREing process in approximately 20 seconds. An individual can be trained to use the machine is less than 10 minutes.

When the SunCoast Ladies Series closed the books on the final round on August 15, 2008, San Diego Golf Academy student Natalie Dotson was holding the coveted SunCoast Series title. With rounds of 72-76-76, Dotson won the event with an eight-over-par 224.

Doral Golf Resort & Spa, a Marriott Resort in Miami, Florida, has launched a multimillion-dollar redesign of the 18-hole Silver Course by acclaimed designer Jim McLean. Set to debut January 2009, all greens and holes on the Silver Course will be remodeled and reshaped to ensure improved playability and a greater challenge for players at every skill level. The most significant changes include widened fairways and enhanced visuals of inspiring water features. These improvements greatly increase course length and expand it from 6,557 yards to over 7,100 yards.
