As season openers go, this performance could not have been scripted any better. Trusting the Pro V1 golf ball, and for the first time, a bag of Titleist equipment, Geoff Ogilvy successfully defended his SBS Championship on the Plantation Course at Kapalua. Ogilvy posted a one-shot win at the winners-only tournament, rallying from a two-shot deficit with 10 holes to play. He closed with a 6-under par 67 to finish at 22-under 270. Displaying focus, determination and consistency, Ogilvy fired four consecutive rounds in the 60's for the second year in a row en route to his seventh career PGA Tour title. It marked another great start for the #1 ball in golf and an even better one for Titleist's newest brand ambassador.

Lorens Chan of Honolulu, hung on to his second-round lead to win the TEE UP Junior Challenge presented by Kamen Rider Dragon Knight Cup on Thursday. His final round 2-under-par 70 gave him a two shot victory over Rak Cho of Brea, Calif. Szu-Han Chen of Beaumont, Calif., fired a final-round 4-under-par 68 to win by four shots. She finished with a three-day total of 2-under-par 214.

While the season-opening Hawaii Swing came to a close, the momentum of Titleist continued. Titleist Brand Ambassadors posted a 1-2 finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii, as Zach Johnson fired four consecutive rounds in the 60's to edge Adam Scott by two shots. Scott tied for second with Titleist golf ball loyalist David Toms, both of whom trusted the new 2009 Pro V1 for their success.

It marked the fifth career PGA Tour title for the 2006 U.S. Open champion, who advanced to No. 6 in the world ranking following the win. In fact, it was a 1-2 finish for Titleist golf ball loyalists, as Davis Love III relied upon the new 2009 Pro V1x and a full bag of Titleist golf clubs for his success. Twenty players in the winners-only event relied upon Titleist, ten of whom put the new 2009 Pro V1 or Pro V1x into play during the first week it was available for competition.

Cobra Brand Ambassador Geoff Ogilvy burst out of the gates at Kapalua Resort's Plantation Course and outclassed an elite field of 2008 PGA Tour champions to win the first event of the 2009 PGA Tour season, the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Championship. Ogilvy took the outright lead on the 14th hole of the opening round and never trailed the remainder of the tournament. He birdied four straight holes on the back nine and posted a final round 5-under 68 for a 24-under 268 total, six shots clear of his closest competitors.

The renowned 27-hole Princeville Makai Golf Course, which opened in 1971 on Kauai's north shore, has begun a multi-million dollar renovation that will continue until late summer 2009. The course renovations are being implemented in conjunction with the renovation of The Princeville Hotel, which shares the same ownership as the Makai Golf Course. The hotel recently closed for renovation and will reopen in mid-2009 as the St. Regis Princeville Hotel. During the renovation period for the hotel and the Makai Course, Princeville's other golf course, the 18-hole Prince, will continue to operate as usual.

The Prince Golf Course at Kauai's north shore Princeville Resort has received the only five-star rating in Hawaii in the new 2008/2009 rankings of Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play." The directory ranks golf courses around the world from one to five stars, based on players' reviews. The Prince, a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. masterpiece, is the only Hawaii golf course to receive the top 5-star rating.
