The Lincolnshire Police Department has confirmed that Lloyd Morris, of Deerfield, Illinois, and Marco Maggiore, of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, were arrested on November 23, 2009 and charged with money laundering, computer fraud, mail fraud and theft. According to an official with the Lincolnshire Police Department, these two individuals allegedly took advantage of the popularity of Titleist Pro V1 golf balls in a scam that resulted in at least 88 victims and over $400,000 in damages, and additional charges may be forthcoming. Morris and Maggiore were held at the Lake County Jail with bonds set at $200,000 and $100,000, respectively.

Only one of a handful of courses to host final stage qualifying for the 2009 U.S. Open earlier this season, Stonewall Orchard Golf Club will host the 87th Illinois PGA Section Championship August 31 thru September 2. A daily fee facility that is open to the public, this will be the fourth time that Stonewall Orchard has hosted the Illinois PGA's most prestigious event and one that is currently on rotation with renowned private facilities Medinah and Olympia Fields.

Bolingbrook Golf Club has been named as one of the 2009 Best Courses You Can Play, according to a listing created by Golfweek, a weekly golf periodical with over 1.3 million readers. The upscale municipal course, located in Chicago's southwest suburb, will be ranked as one of the top public-access layouts in the United States, as selected by the magazine's ranking system it was announced today.

Wilson Golf, the Chicago-based company whose irons have captured more Major titles than any other manufacturer, announced that it has reached agreements with U.S. players Ricky Barnes and Brad Adamonis to use Wilson Staff clubs. The duo will join Wilson Staff player and three-time Major winner, Padraig Harrington, on the U.S. tour staff. Harrington re-signed with Wilson Golf on a multi-year deal in October 2008.

Marriott Golf, one of the world's premier golf operators, announced that Crane's Landing Golf Club, in Lincolnshire, Ill., is the latest property to achieve certification through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses. This marks the 15th Marriott Golf managed property to achieve Audubon Certification, as part of the Company's green initiatives. By the end of 2008, 25 managed golf properties in North America and the Caribbean will become Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries.

Excel Golf Products, Inc. staff player Kenny Perry played a vital role in the United States defeating Europe at the 2008 Ryder Cup which was played September 19-21. Along with several other members of the U.S. team that was captained by Paul Azinger, Perry teed up with limited edition Zero Friction Performance Golf Tees that were imprinted with the U.S. flag. Excel Golf also provided the European team with tees imprinted with their flag.

While many players struggled with the challenging Cantigny layout, Zach Barlow (Percy) tallied a seven-under par 281 over 72 holes to win the 78th annual Illinois State Amateur Championship. Barlow carded a 71-71 over the final 36 holes on Thursday to preserve a three-stroke victory over a hard-charging Phillip Arouca (Winnetka).
