The inaugural year of the Sticks for Kids program in China has proven to be a huge success. Rolled out in July, the program was initiated in 30 of China's largest cities, including Beijing and Shanghai.

Nearly 1,000 Special Olympics athletes, coaches, volunteers, plus national sports governing body officials will gather on Friday, July 31, for Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics National Invitational Tournament. The 2009 invitational event will host national golf and softball tournaments for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, in Lincoln, Nebraska, August 1-3, 2009.

Already established in 48 states in the U.S., The Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA) Foundation's highly successful Sticks For Kids youth program is expanding to China. GCBAA International member, Forward Management Group, plans to setup a test program the fourth quarter of this year and roll out the full program in China in 2009.

The Cleveland Golf Company is heavily involved in player development with support to junior, collegiate and developmental tour golf. For developmental tour players, Monday qualifying for the Nationwide Tour is a step in the right direction. The Cleveland Golf Tour is intended to provide an alternative event for players missing the cut in a Monday Qualifier. The Cleveland Golf Tour will offer 8 competitive, 36-hole events scheduled around the Monday Qualifiers. Each event will be held on the Monday Qualifying course. The first event will be held July 29-30 at Tiburon GC in Omaha, Nebraska.
